The Brief
The clients had recently returned to New Zealand and wanted to build their dream home, inspired by the design of their previous residence but with a larger footprint. They envisioned a 500-square-metre Cape Cod style home in black that would complement the surrounding countryside. They granted the design team creative freedom to bring this vision to life.
The challenge
The primary challenge was balancing the couple’s ambitious vision with a set budget. While they desired a spacious 500-square-metre home, they did not have a finalised design, so creating a cohesive, high-quality design within the budget was essential.
The Solution
The design and construction team maximised the creative freedom provided to carefully plan and execute a 500-square-metre home that adhered to the couple’s budget. The project was not only completed within budget but also met the desired aesthetic, creating a harmonious blend of the Cape Cod style with the country surroundings.
The Outcome
Originally projected to take a year, the project was completed in just 10 months, two months ahead of schedule. The clients were delighted with their dream retirement home, finding that it perfectly matched their vision. Their dream was realised within budget and ahead of time, leaving them highly satisfied with their new home in the New Zealand countryside.
